Apart from a few percent in hosting and payment collection fees, you keep almost everything.
Secondly, by selling a digital information product—something like a course—all you’re doing is taking a skill or piece of knowledge you already have, and providing that to someone out there who is looking for answers. Someone who is willing to pay for those answers.
For example, you might know how to write code, or arrange flowers. And chances are, there are millions of people around the world looking to learn those skills right now.
Can you help people solve a problem they need help with? Like how to become a better writer, do taxes more efficiently, or simply change the oil in their car. These are all things you can teach someone via a course.
Or, maybe you are a coach who helps people grow financially, physically, mentally, or spiritually. These are all things you can help people by creating a course, or helping them through online coaching, or other forms of assistance.
But lastly—and potentially most importantly for many of you—the market for online learning is absolutely HUGE. The industry for courses and other learning products is an industry that’s valued at $200 billion right now. But by 2026, it’s estimated to almost double, to over $370 billion.
For us though, mastering the art of monetising our existing knowledge has given us one huge benefit: freedom.
Selling digital products allows us to work our own hours. To choose when and where we work. What problems we want to help solve in the world, or the kinds of change we want to help people make.
We’re able to do this because we create courses once, that then sometimes sell thousands of dollars in revenue while we sleep.
